Canning Workshop: Cowboy Candy

Join Co-op member and canning expert, Stephanie Bickmore, as she leads this summer workshop on making and canning Cowboy Candy, spicy candied jalapenos or a mixture of peppers that can be refrigerated or canned for longer shelf life. This is a great way to use up a bumper crop of peppers from the garden or farm market!  Attendees will enjoy samples during class and take home a jar of their very own Cowboy Candy!

Our highly anticipated, all-inclusive Farmer's Feast Dinner at Market Table Bistro is April 24th at 6pm! The event, co-hosted by the Lovettsville Cooperative Market and Chef Jason Lage, will feature a menu comprising locally sourced ingredients and paired with Virginia wines. A ticket costs $75 which includes food, wine, tax, and gratuity. There isn't a more delicious way to support the Co-op in its goal to open a locally grown and community-owned grocery store in Lovettsville!  All are welcome!

Co-op Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up

The public (members and non-members) is invited to join the Co-op as we pick up trash along our designated Adopt-A-Highway route along the Berlin Turnpike (from Purcell Rd to the Potomac River). We will meet at Bonnie's parking lot @ 2p. The Co-op will provide bags, gloves. grabbers (limited number), and vests. This is also part of April's "Keep Loudoun Beautiful" efforts! To date we have collected 130 bags of trash since 2013. Hope to see you there!

Annual Member Meeting & Chili Cook-off: 6:30pm, Lovettsville Fire & Rescue Hall, 12837 Berlin Turnpike, Lovettsville, VA 20180

Please join us for the Annual Member Meeting, Wednesday, February 7th, 7:00pm at the Lovettsvile Volunteer Fire & Rescue Hall. It's an opportunity to meet your Board members, get the latest update about the Co-op's exciting progress and ask questions.  New Board members will also be announced.  This meeting is for members in good standing. 

Prior to the member meeting the Co-op will host a chili cook-off, open to members and the public, starting at 6:30pm.  Set-up starts at 6pm.  Complimentary tastings and bread will be provided.  Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.  A winner will be chosen prior to the start of the annual meeting.

Fall Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up:  Sunday, December 3rd, 2pm to 4pm.  The Co-op will host a clean-up of our adopted route along Berlin Turnpike, from Purcell Road to the Potomac River Bridge.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Bags, gloves and vests will be provided; work clothes and shoes are encouraged.  Meet at the parking lot of Bonnie’s Country Kitchen at 2pm.

Fresh Wreath Making Workshop

Wreath Making Workshop | SUNDAY, November 19, 2 PM ***Preregistration is required by 11/16

Join Co-op member, Joanna Willard, as she leads this festive workshop on creating a fresh evergreen wreath.  Partcipants are encouraged to bring items from their own backyards to incorporate into their creations, such as holly berries, pine cones, bittersweet, rose hips, flowering sumac, etc.  The Co-op will provide evergreens, a variety of decorative pieces, and materials for a bow. *Please bring garden pruners or a cutting tool to the workshop. $20 for co-op members; $25 for non-members

Joanna is the owner of Celebrate Slowly LLC, an event and wedding planning business.  Her talents also include floral design and baking the occasional wedding cake. Joanna is passionate about flowers, and she loves helping people beautify their homes by using foliage and plants from their backyards.

The Lovettsville Cooperative Market’s sixth annual Outdoor Market is now hosted at their new location at the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire & Rescue building, 12837 Berlin Turnpike, Lovettsville, Virginia.  The market will operate out of this location on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM through the end of August. The Co-op has a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the LVFR to become a tenant in the existing building once LVFR relocates to a new location adjacent to the existing station.

The outdoor market will feature locally grown and sourced seasonal fresh fruits, vegetables, lamb, beef, bacon, sausage, chicken, baked goods, coffee, maple syrup, elderberry products, and honey as well as local handcrafted products. Suppliers include Catoctin Coffee, Georges Mill Artisan Cheese, Milcreek Farm, Potomac Vegetable Farm, The Parsonage, Leesburg Center Apiaries, and more.   As in previous years, local non-profits will also be invited to set up as guests to promote their services and provide information to the general public.

Local producers, especially those providing eggs and fruit, who would like to sell products at the market, are encouraged to contact the Co-op directly at farmmarket@lovettsville .grocery.com.
